Marissa McKinley

Marissa began dancing when she was 5 years old at a local studio in her hometown of Hillsborough, NJ. At the age of 7, Marissa made the competition dance team where she competed in Jazz, Hip-Hop, Lyrical and Ballet for 11 years. While competing, Marissa’s passion for ballet drove her to success in all other areas of dance. Marissa believes that ballet teaches dancers the essential building blocks to become strong in any style of performance. At the age of 18, Marissa took a break from dancing in order to attend Penn State University (earning a B.A. in Political Science, Sociology and Latin) and then Johns Hopkins University (earning a Master’s Degree in Education). Marissa is currently a special education teacher at Danville Primary School and is excited to share her passion for dance with everyone in the Komotion Dance Program!
